My name is Ara Davidi Ghazaryan.  I was born on October 8, 1974 in Gyumri, Armenia.  I spent my childhoold and youth in my hometown, where I started my first steps in jewelry making at the age of 14.

I have been studying at Gyumri College of Fine Arts since I was 16 years old in the section of artistic processing of metals. where I got acquainted with the secrets and tricks of jewelry making. Later, I improved my skills and mastered my profession by myself. At the age of 20, I was already well-known goldsmith and had a good reputation in Gyumri. I was working in individual orders received from Europe.

In 2001, I moved to Los Angeles, USA and shortly after relocating, I opened my own design studio called “Ara Davidi” where I would set the groundwork to further establish my passion for jewelry design. Throughout the years I’ve received and worked on many orders from prominent people. I have mastered designer-modeling, enamel, engraving, and fine sculpting using old technologies.

On June 12, 2017, I was awarded the Guinness World Record Award as the founder of the world’s smallest handmade gold chess set. The entire chessboard measures 15.3*15.3.  It was created by Brazilian cherry wood and 18kt gold; weighing only 6.5 grams. The largest figures are the King and the Queen (at 4.8mm each); the smallest are the pawns (at 2.3mm each).  With diamonds on the King and a tiny removable crown on the Queen, there are also four diamonds underneath the chessboard.
